Lady Cardinals Girls' Hoops Camp

With schools around the country starting to enjoy their summer vacations also marks the beginning of numerous summer athletic camps.  East Cleveland's girls' basketball program after taking a hiatus has begun to rebirth their program with the return of their own basketball camp.

Sponsored by the Lady Cardinals Booster Club, 20 plus young athletes in grades 9 thru 12 were able to attend a 4 days camp held at Shaw High School learning drills & skills to prepare them for the upcoming season.  When asked about the effects of the camp on the program girls' Head Coach Dana Jeter stated, "These girls have the chance to improve in the off-season in the same fashion as our rivals and competition."

Most of the participants were in the 10th and 11th grades.  All of the participants being part of the Shaw girls' basketball program only gives testament to the youth of the program.  Coming off a 10-11 season in Coach Jeter's first year when the prior season only produced 3 total victories leads to belief that Coach Jeter is moving the program n the right direction.

"The goal is to develop our camp into one of the more featured camps in the area.  We brought in FarMar Media Services as a camp specialist to help with the design and coordination of our camp and they came in with some vary innovative drills to help improve skills in both general skill development and specific skill development relevant to our program."  stated Coach Jeter.

After a couple of days of drills the girls were able play in their first summer league game.  One thing that Coach Jeter noticed was that she could see the girls attempting to implement some of the drills they were exposed to already. "Their progressive over the past 4 days of camp leaves me very excited and looking forward to the rest of the summer and the upcoming season." gleamed Coach Jeter.
